Assistive Devices Support and Demonstrations
The Assistive Devices Loan Program (ADLP) officially ended on July 1, 2025.
While NCDHH no longer lends assistive equipment, we continue to support Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing Nebraskans by helping them explore, understand, and access the right assistive technology.
Why Did the Program End?
This change allows NCDHH to focus on connecting individuals to long-term solutions rather than serving as an equipment provider.
Download our one-page explainer to learn more about why the ADLP ended and how this shift strengthens statewide access.
What NCDHH Still Offers
We are still a trusted resource for assistive technology guidance. Our services include:
- One-on-one device demonstrations: Try out assistive listening and alerting devices to find what fits your needs.
- Technology education: Learn what options are available and how they support independence and communication access.
- Referrals to providers: Once you find the right device, we’ll connect you with reputable vendors to purchase or access it long-term.
Other Programs to Explore
Looking for alternative telecommunication device access? These statewide programs may help:
Nebraska Specialized Telecommunications Equipment Program (NSTEP)
Provides a $1,000 voucher every three years to help cover the cost of communication devices like captioned phones, amplified phones, and visual ringers. Available to Nebraskans who are Deaf, hard of hearing, DeafBlind, or have a speech disability.
Assistive Technology Partnership (ATP) & AT4ALL
ATP offers equipment loans, technology demonstrations, and assessments to help you find the right communication tools. Through the AT4ALL website, you can also search for used or donated devices that may be available at low or no cost.
Nebraska Vocational Rehabilitation (NVR)
If you're looking for work or are currently employed, NVR may help pay for assistive technology you need on the job. Eligibility is based on your employment goals and individual needs.
