Frequently Asked Questions
What is a strategic plan, and why does NCDHH need one?
A strategic plan is a roadmap that outlines an organization’s mission, vision, values, and long-term goals. It helps guide decisions, prioritize resources, and ensure accountability. NCDHH’s 2025–2030 Strategic Plan ensures our work stays aligned with the needs of Nebraska’s Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing communities.
How was this plan developed?
The 2025–2030 plan was built over several months through internal planning, staff input, and leadership conversations. It was formally approved by the NCDHH Board in June 2025. The plan reflects both the Commission’s current realities and the future we aim to build—one centered around access, equity, and community leadership.
What are “core principles,” and why are they important?
Core principles are the values that guide all of our work. NCDHH’s principles—Educate. Engage. Equity. —serve as the foundation for how we approach our mission and interact with the community, partners, and stakeholders.
How will this plan impact services or programs?
The Strategic Plan sets the direction for how NCDHH will grow, refine, and prioritize services over the next five years. While some updates to services may occur during this time, changes will be thoughtfully planned and made with transparency. Updates to services will be announced publicly as they are developed.
