Accessible Care Beyond Compliance
As part of NCDHH’s Deaf Awareness Month 2026 activities, join Behavioral Health Liaison Sakura Yodogawa-Campbell for a virtual presentation designed for behavioral health professionals serving Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, and DeafPlus patients.
Providing accessible behavioral health care requires more than responding to an accommodation request. Professionals need to understand how to plan for communication access, identify potential barriers, and make informed decisions about accommodations before a patient arrives.
This presentation will provide practical information and resources professionals can use to strengthen accessibility within their services.
Participants will learn about:
- Planning for communication access
- Communication accommodations for Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, and DeafPlus patients
- Accessibility considerations in behavioral health settings
- Common barriers that can affect access to care
- Resources available to behavioral health professionals
Date: Tuesday, September 22, 2026
Time: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. CST
